Breakfast Pizza

If you’re looking to elevate your brunch game, look no further than this mouthwatering NY Style Breakfast Pizza. With a perfect blend of savory and sweet, this pizza features a delectable sauce made from maple syrup and Frank’s hot sauce, topped with gooey mozzarella cheese, crispy bacon, flavorful sausage, fluffy scrambled eggs, and a sprinkle of fresh chives. Let’s dive into how to create this unique breakfast delight!

Ingredients

For the Sauce:
– 1/2 cup maple syrup
– 2 tablespoons Frank’s hot sauce (adjust to taste)

For the Toppings:
– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
– 4 strips of cooked bacon, crumbled
– 2 cooked sausage links, sliced
– 4 scrambled eggs
– 2 tablespoons chopped chives
– Olive oil (for drizzling)
– Semolina flour (so your pie does not stick)

Step 1: Prepare the Sauce

Start by whisking together the maple syrup and Frank’s hot sauce in a small bowl. This sauce is the star of the show, combining the sweetness of maple with the kick of hot sauce, creating a perfect balance that will tantalize your taste buds. Set it aside while you prepare your pizza base and toppings.

Step 2:
Preheat Your Oven

To achieve that perfect NY style crust, preheat your oven to a scorching 550°F (about 288°C). Make sure to place your pizza stone in the oven before you start heating. For best results, let the oven preheat for at least 45 minutes. This is important- it ensures that the stone gets hot enough to give your pizza a beautifully crispy bottom. I like to put my pizza stone higher up in the oven… heat rises right? So, it should get hotter up top.

Step 3: Assemble the Pizza

ALERT– make sure you have semolina flour in a bowl. Take a dough ball and get the semolina flour all over it and dust some onto your countertop. This will help a lot in preventing youtr pizza from sticking when you slide it into the oven.

BEGINNER OPTION– assemble your pizza on parchment paper, you can slide the parchment with the pizza on it, right into the oven onto your pizza stone.

When the oven is done preheating, after you have the semolina on the dough ball and work surface, use the tips of your fingers to press out the dough a bit, while avoiding the edges. Then use gravity to stretch the dough out into a circle until you have roughly the size pizza you want. Thin is okay as long as you don’t get any holes. Patch them up if you do.

Spread a layer of your maple hot sauce over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Next, sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese, followed by the crumbled bacon and sausage. Finally, add the scrambled eggs on top, ensuring an even distribution for every slice.

Step 4: Bake the Pizza

Carefully slide your assembled pizza onto the preheated pizza stone in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the crust is perfectly crispy. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning—every oven is a little different! You may need to rotate the pizza halfway through if the back portion is cooking faster.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Once your pizza is out of the oven, sprinkle it with fresh chives and drizzle with a bit of olive oil for added flavor if you want… or more maple hot sauce. Let it cool for a minute or two, then slice and serve hot.

Enjoy!
